Hi, I'm Michelle, and I live in a small town in County Durham, England.
I spend my days doodling and stitching in my light and airy studio which overlooks the garden, where I also teach small groups how to sew and discover the addictive world of Free-Motion Machine Embroidery and Applique.
Growing up, I was surrounded by fabrics and threads as I watched my mum sew and fix clothes for my brother and I. This I believe helped me to draw on my creativity as I learned the values of Make and Mend from an early age, values of which I share with those I teach too.
Most of my work is inspired by Nature and Seasons, with a whimsical touch. I create original textile art, hanging decorations, cards and gifts, using a combination of fabric applique, free motion machine embroidery, hand embroidery and paint.
A lot of my designs are carefully photographed and printed onto cards and bookmarks, gifts and accessories.
I consciously source new and preloved fabrics, notions and packaging from the UK and make the upmost effort to use every scrap I make, including the tiniest in my work if I can.
