Introduction to Free Motion Embroidery Workshop

This is a 3 hour session, ran in my home studio in Stockton-on-Tees, Uk

A Private session for up to 3 people (suitable for beginners)

Spend a wonderful 3 hours with me in my studio, where you will gain confidence and expand your skills in Free Motion Embroidery.

If you are a quilter, or embroiderer, this is the perfect place to explore the technique and become more creative by expanding your creative direction.  Or maybe you are a seamstress who is looking to learn a new style to enable you to embellish your wardrobe in a new creative way.  This workshop is for you.

The session

I will start by running through some Free Motion techniques before guiding you on a more creative journey so that you leave with a nearly finished embroidered picture.

Choice of 2 subject matters

1) Appliqué Caravan

There will be a couple of demos and practice sessions, before moving on to creating one of my Caravan Embroidery Kits.

The kit includes everything you need to stitch and create the Caravan and is a great introduction to Free Motion Embroidery and Appliqué

You will be encouraged to add your own details to the finished piece, making it your own unique piece and something you are proud of

Kits are an additional £15 each for this session

You will need:

Sewing Machine with a Feed Dog drop down function or a cover, darning foot, basic sewing kit, threads, scissors, pins

2) Abstract Landscape or Seascape

There will be a couple of demos with some stitch ideas, before working on your own personal embroidered picture, using the techniques you have learned.

You will be provided with some inspirational photos for reference (or you can bring your own) and you will be encouraged to add your own details to create the piece using the techniques learned. 

For this session you can choose to bring your own fabrics from your stash.

You will need:

Sewing Machine with a Feed Dog drop down function or a cover, darning foot, basic sewing kit, threads, scissors, pins, fabric stash and medium to heavy weight calico, felt or cotton canvas measuring 12” x 12”

Should you wish for me to provide fabrics for the session there will be a £15 additional cost
